Medical Front Office & Patient Access Specialist (On-site, Bethel Park, PA 15102 - South Hills)
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire (Permanent placement on company payroll with immediate full benefits; not a temporary job)
Location: Bethel Park, PA 15102 (South Hills)
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (Monday – Friday with daytime hours and up to two evening shifts per week; clinic closes by 6:30pm at the latest; no weekends or holidays required)
New Hire Starting Base Pay: $18.79 – $21.10 per hour (Starting salary placement is determined by direct customer service, medical front office, or billing/registration experience.)
Future Earning Potential: Position salary range progresses up to $28.03 per hour over time through performance, tenure, and administrative career ladder advancement.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience & Skills: Prior experience in a medical office and/or medical billing function required. Personal computer proficiency and typing skills required.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Medipac preferred; knowledge of medical terminology.
- Customer Service & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to navigate patient intake, educate patients on financial obligations, and promote patient portal onboarding.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Patient Arrival & Onboarding: Warmly greet patients, assist with self-arrival kiosks or front-desk check-in, register patients in Biometrics, and help onboard users to the patient portal.
- Registration & Benefit Verification: Verify insurance coverage via online systems or phone, confirm and update patient demographic and insurance data, and obtain required HIPAA and treatment consent signatures.
- Financial Navigation & Point-of-Service Collections: Educate patients on copayments and financial responsibilities, collect point-of-service payments, and connect patients to financial advocacy resources when needed.
- Scheduling & Continuum of Care: Schedule follow-up physical therapy appointments at checkout and coordinate ancillary service scheduling for continued patient care.
- Practice & Communication Operations: Triage incoming telephone calls to appropriate clinical staff, manage medical record scanning/faxing, and apply service recovery principles to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
