Certified Nursing Assistant – Critical Care

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire (Permanent placement on company payroll with immediate full benefits; not a temporary job)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (Uptown)

Schedule: Full-Time, Rotating Shifts (12-hour rotating shifts; mandatory 3-day daylight orientation required upon hire)

New Hire Starting Base Pay: $19.40 – $22.50 per hour (Starting title and pay rate based on healthcare experience)

Future Earning Potential: Established employees have the opportunity to earn progressive pay increases up to $30.14 per hour over time through performance, tenure, and continuous learning.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of direct healthcare experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Health Sciences fieldCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
  • Core Patient Care Skills: Ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs including bathing, feeding, ambulating, turning, repositioning), vital signs, weights, blood glucose monitoring, telemetry monitor placement, and urine/specimen collection.
  • Clinical Competencies: Capability to perform 12-lead EKGs, bladder scans, simple dressing changes, catheter care, and point-of-care testing.
  • Physical & Technical Capabilities: Knowledge of safe body mechanics, patient transfer techniques, ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, standing, transporting), and basic medical record documentation.
How You'll Make an Impact

  • Patient Support: Provide hands-on direct patient care for critically ill patients recovering from acute conditions, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and neurosurgical procedures.
  • Routine & Specialized Nursing Tasks: Execute core clinical duties including vital sign monitoring, blood sugar checks, I&O tracking, EKG execution, bladder scans, and specimen collection under RN direction.
  • Patient Safety & Restraint Management: Implement safety protocols to prevent Hospital-Acquired Conditions (HACs), conduct safety checks, assist with patient restraint placement/monitoring per facility policy, and provide 1-on-1 patient companionship when required.
  • Unit Maintenance & Supply Management: Stock patient care areas, clean/sanitize equipment, maintain orderly hallways, and handle intra-hospital patient transport.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with neuro-intensivists, bedside RNs, and therapists to report changes in patient condition and support family-centered critical care.
